Dr. Darin A. Thompson is a veteran K–12 educator, author, national presenter, school improvement expert, and the founder of Pivotal Leaders Group, LLC, an education consulting company that helps principals, assistant principals, and other school leaders drive improvement efforts with greater impact and lasting results.
With nearly two decades of experience, including a decade as a principal in both inner-city and suburban schools, Dr. Thompson has consistently led double-digit gains in student outcomes and closed gaps for historically underserved populations.
A two-time Outstanding Principal Regional Finalist, his thought leadership has been featured in EdWeek, the Journal of Urban Learning, Teaching and Research, and in the book Preparing to Lead: Narratives of Aspiring School Leaders in a Post-COVID World. He has also presented nationally at conferences such as the NASSP/NAESP United Conference, the Southern Regional Education Board’s Making Schools Work Conference, and as keynote for the NAACP Chesterfield Chapter Scholarship Gala.
Now, through using his signature method, which aligns structural change with addressing the foundational realities that undermine progress, Dr. Thompson coaches school leaders on how to remove key barriers to successful school improvement, strengthen their leadership impact in that regard, and create sustainable outcomes for students.
